thecryptoairdrop.com has been tracking and verifying crypto airdrops since 2017. You'll find live drops across Ethereum, Solana and the biggest L2s, plus retroactive rewards, testnet campaigns and early pre-TGE projects that don't have a token yet. Our team checks every project before it's published, and the list is refreshed every day. Using the site is free and there's nothing to sign up for. Hot airdrops are ranked by community votes, so whatever sits at the top is what other farmers are really spending their time on.

What is a crypto airdrop?

A crypto airdrop is a free handout of tokens. Projects send them to early users and community members for two reasons: to spread ownership around, and to give a new token a real user base from day one.

How you claim depends on the drop. Holder airdrops tend to land in eligible wallets on their own. Most of the rest are claimed on the project's official claim page by connecting your wallet. Whether you qualify usually comes down to a snapshot, which is a record of eligible wallets taken at a set block or date. If a drop uses one, only the holdings or activity recorded before that cutoff normally count.

These are the main types you'll come across on our site:

  • Retroactive airdrops: tokens that reward people who used a live protocol in the past
  • Points and farming programs: your activity is tracked and can turn into a token allocation at TGE
  • Testnet campaigns: rewards for helping test a network before it launches
  • Holder airdrops: automatic distributions to wallets that hold a specific token or NFT
  • Speculative pre-TGE projects: no confirmed token yet, so you're farming on the expectation that one is coming

The model has a long track record. Uniswap made retroactive DeFi airdrops famous in 2020 when it sent at least 400 UNI to every wallet that had used the protocol. Arbitrum, Optimism, dYdX, ENS, Jupiter, Jito, Celestia, Starknet, zkSync, Wormhole and Hyperliquid all followed with retroactive drops of their own. Hyperliquid put 31% of its token supply in community hands at launch.

One safety rule beats every other: a real airdrop will never ask for your seed phrase. Fake claim sites and wallet drainers are the most common scams around airdrops, and they copy genuine project pages almost pixel for pixel. Before you connect a wallet, make sure you're on the project's official claim page.

Why do projects give away free tokens?

An airdrop is a trade, not charity. You get free tokens, and the project gets things that are hard to buy with a marketing budget:

  • Wide ownership: tokens end up in thousands of wallets instead of a small group of insiders, which also helps governance and decentralization
  • Real users: points and farming programs keep people active on a product for months, long before a token exists
  • Attention: a well-run drop reaches the whole market for much less than paid ads would cost
  • Stakeholders: people look after what they own (the endowment effect), so recipients often stick around as part of the community

A community allocation at launch is simply expected these days. Projects that skip it usually hear about it.

How we verify listings

Our team reviews every airdrop before it goes live. We look at who is behind the project and check that the claim links are official. Impersonations and drainer links get filtered out, and nothing is listed without a review. New free crypto airdrops are added daily, and campaigns that have ended are closed. If a project turns bad after we've listed it, we take it down. We'd rather run a shorter list than send readers to a bad one.
